All of the following videos have been uploaded to YouTube? -
I suggest watching at least the two hardware install videos, the Programming Xtender IR codes, and Programming Local TV IR codes - the rest are as needed.
Basic Installation
Xtender introduction video (Same as is on our website)
Xtender Basic Hardware Install part 1 of 2
Xtender Basic Hardware Install part 2 of 2
Programming the remote controls
Pairing a remote to an Xtender
(If you bought extra remotes, start here) This step is much like pairing a Bluetooth headset to a cell phone
PLACEHOLDER for future video - how to find the right place to place the little IR bugs
Programming Xtender IR codes
This is the process to get the control codes into the Xtender for the devices plugged into the Red, Green, and Blue channels that Xtender controls via the little IR bugs you stick to the front of those devices.
Programming local TV IR codes
into a BOCS remote - covers direct code entry as well as code scanning. Personally I ALWAYS use the code scanning feature - in 99% of the cases it is much faster.
Learning codes into a remote control
. If you run into a TV whose IR codes are not in our standard list (either direct entry or scanning - be sure to try scanning first as some TVs use codes from other brands. If you have to learn, this is how. NOTE, if your remote will not go into learning mode, just email me or text me (dfeller@myXtender.com (720) 206-4114) and I'll give you the unlock code for remote control learning. I'll need your serial number, when you get the unlock code, press Menu and 9 at the same time until the power light comes on, punch in the 9 digit unlock code and press OK.
Learning codes into an Xtender
. This is typically only needed for "non-standard" devices like iPod docks, and unique products like a Sony 400 DVD changer.
Programming for a local master
. IF you plug a TV into the "Local TV" output of Xtender, you MUST do this step or you will suffer poor video quality.
Programming other local devices
. If you have other devices in the same place as a BOCS remote (for instance a DVD player in the bedroom), this shows you how the BOCS remote can control those devices as well so you don't ever have to pick up any remote except the BOCS remote to do everything.
Adjusting Video quality
. Depending on the home, you might need more or less BOCS channel "power" - this shows you how to adjust that so you can balance Cable TV power and BOCS channel power.
Programming for volume punch through
(if you use an A/V receiver for audio instead of TV speakers)
Programming a different inter-digit delay
. IF at any TV, when pressing a BOCS channel button (Red, Green, or Blue) and only one digit shows up on the TV, you need to adjust this feature on the remote. For instance when pressing the Red button, it should go to channel 14 - if the TV shows just a 1 or just a 4...
Using an Xtender system
. And last but not least, once you have it installed, this is how it works in day to day life.
